Beast run test by TheTundraGhost Beast run test by TheTundraGhost
Update: Changed the ears sometime ago, just forgot to upload it.

Update: Added the ears and tail! :) Next will be it's markings. As for the lineart, colors, background and such things, I'll want to finish the other animations I've started before I get to those!

Random running beast animation for practise. There are a some things that I'll want to fix before I add the ears and tail, for example the neck that decided to grow longer in the last few frames :XD:.

You have a unique style of ample yet snappy movement. Unfortunately, a studio would probably erase that uniqueness by combining your style with the closest pre-made equivalent.

nice!
can't help noticing, the neck seems a little stretchy, as it opens out the tall point on the beasts neck doesn't seem to move forward as much as the head does. Maybe this is just because it's rougher drawings :)

I see what you mean, I'll try to fix that while doing the lineart. c: Thanks for noticing!

Forgot to add, I like the sense of weight in this too! It's amazing how the good animations of running creatures can also tell about the weight of the character at the same time. Here it looks like a bear, which fits because it looks like a big carnivorous beast. :)

I'm really glad it worked out that way, I do wanted to make this beast bearish! :D

This is great! I love running animation in which you see each and every body part moving instead of being simply stiff and copy-pasted. My favorites are the back legs and the tail. :D They're very fun to watch.

I only got one little crit. I'm not an animator, but I think the ear animation/posing looks a little unnatural for a running pose. I imagine a running character has a lot of wind in its face, so maybe put the long ears a little more back instead of bouncing forward like this. But maybe that's just me. D:

Reminds me when I used to ride horses once I wondered why they put their ears back when they run, and the horse owner told me they do that so their sensitive inner sides of the ears are protected from the wind (and the cold).

Ahh this crit is exatly the information I need so thank you so much! :D I wasn't sure what to do with the ears when I started to animate them, but the info about the horses make a lot of sense, so I'll change that! :)
Thank you so much again!

Yeah! I agree! I think the animation looks awesome! The ear animation could be fixed by having the timing off-set a bit more. Another way to fix it would to have one ear fall forward slightly more than the other, rather than have them both fall at the same time. Other than that, keep it up! It's looking great!

The animation looks really fluent and natural. The anatomy of the character (thick front legs and thin back legs) makes the movement more interesting.

Looks really good in amount.

I don't think the neck is really a problem, not much. Animal's usually run like that, no?
